Care Guides

Feeding, tank mates and live food, so your new fish settle in and keep their color.

What We Feed

A varied diet keeps our fish healthier and better colored. Every tank rotates through:

  • Live-hatched baby brine shrimp
  • High-quality flake
  • Micro pellets
  • Algae wafers
  • Blanched vegetables
  • Repashy gel food

Our guppies are conditioned on flake before they ship, so they arrive eating what you already have at home.

Tank Mates

Guppies are community fish. They do well with most other fish that won’t pick on them, which makes them an easy fit for a mixed tank.

Good matches are peaceful fish of similar size, such as small tetras, rasboras, corydoras, platies and mollies. Skip fin-nippers and large or aggressive fish.

As with any fish, anything small enough to fit in a mouth is food, so keep size in mind when choosing tank mates.

Live Food

Live food is one of the best ways to condition breeders and raise fry. We offer daphnia cultures in person at our fish events.

Strain-Specific Care

Temperature, pH, tank size and temperament are listed on every strain page.
